SISTEMAS DE ENGRASE–Los aceites minerales, se preparan a partir de los aceites crudos de petróleo. El aceite crudo, se destila normalmente a presión atmosférica para, posteriormente, pasar a destilarlo a vacío, se obtienen así destilados a vacío y fracciones residuales que pueden ser refinadas, posteriormente a aceite mineral base.
La composición química del aceite mineral base, que se produce, depende tanto del crudo original como del proceso utilizado durante el refinado. Los aceites lubricantes refinados del petróleo crudo son mezclas complejas de parafinas ramificadas y sin ramificar, nafténicas (cicloparafinas) e hidrocarburos aromáticos con un número de carbonos igual o superior a quince, y unos puntos de ebullición en un rango de 300°C a 600°C.
ACEITES SINTÉTICOS
El término Hidrocarburo sintetizado (SHC), y lubricantes sintéticos, son utilizados igualmente para describir una familia de aceites y grasas sintéticos que incluyen aceites circulantes, aceites de engranes, aceites hidráulicos, grasas y aceites de compresores. Estos lubricantes son utilizados en una gran variedad de aplicaciones industriales. Por definición, un lubricante sintético es un lubricante diseñado y elaborado para servir mejor a los propósitos previamente reservados para productos extraídos directamente del petróleo. Los términos sintetizado y sintético, describen los aceites básicos principalmente Polialfaolefinas (PAOs).
Adicionalmente, hay otros tipos de aceites básicos que incluyen poliglicoles, ésteres orgánicos, ésteres fosfatados y siliconas.
La elección del aceite es determinante para lograr la excelencia en la lubricación.
